Biblical knowledge-The Structure and Characteristic of the Bible(Christ Ahnsahnghong)

1. The languages in the Bible
The word, 'Bible,' is originated in the Greek word, [Bibloz=Book].
(1) The Old Testament was written in Hebrew
■ Some books in the Old Testament (Ezr 4:8-6:18, 7:12-26, Jer 10:11, Da 2:4-7:28) were written in Aramaic [Chaldean], a language used in Babylon. It is said that the Jews spoke both Hebrew and Aramaic languages after the time of Babylonian exile.
(2) The New Testament was written in Greek, a language which was used worldwide at that time. Greek became a current language of the Roman Empire in the 1st century.
■ The reason that the New Testament was written in Greek, not in Hebrew or Aramaic was because the gospel had to be spread overseas. (Most nearby countries of Israel used Greek after Alexander conquered the eastern countries.)
2. The Characteristics of the Bible
The Bible was written for about 1,600 years from Moses, the writer of the first book Genesis, to the Apostle John, the writer of the last book the Revelation. The writers, whose number reaches several tens, were of various backgrounds; for example, David was a king and Amos was a shepherd (Am 1:1); they wrote the Bible in different ages and different situations. However, what we have to remember is that it is God who made all the prophets write the Bible.
Because the writer of the Bible is God, not a human being, the words of the Bible are all clearly connected from Genesis to the Revelation, and all the words have authority, and all the prophecies in the Bible have been fulfilled so far. Many read the Bible as the holy scriptures.

2 Ti 3:16 "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching."

2 Pe 1:21 "For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."
3. The canonical books and the uncanonical books

(1) The canonical books → Current 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament.

■ The 39 books of the Old Testament were confirmed to be the canonical books in the Hebrew history.

(2) The uncanonical books → The books which couldn't be included in the canonical books through several Bible examinations. They are the books which were written from B.C. 400, the time of the prophet Malachi, until Jesus came.

The moral level of the uncanonical books is low and they bring the doctrinal contradictions. They have never been selected as the canonical books in the Hebrew history. (Rather they have been called the pseudo books because they have no value.)

Jesus never preached a sermon by quoting from those uncanonical books.

■ The Catholic Church selected the uncanonical books. Jerome, one of the bishops in the 4th century, translated the Bible and then the uncanonical books for an appendix, which paved the way for the use of the uncanonical books. As the religious reformers objected to using them later, the Catholic Church held the Council of Trent (1545-1547) and determined to include the uncanonical books in the Bible.
4. The structure of the Bible
The Bible is consisted of 66 books ― 39 books are of the Old Testament and 27 books are of the New Testament.

Christ Ahnsahnghong came to Korea, at the ends of the earth in the east, and restored the new covenant.
The truth of the new covenant has been spreading rapidly throughout the country. As a result, over 400 branch Churches have been established nationwide in the past half century.

All the Churches celebrate the feasts of God including the Passover of the new covenant, and speedily carry out the gospel work according to the prophecy of the Bible.
